This review first appeared in the February 26, 1993 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

Crystal Wind, which plays an attractive smooth jazz similar to Fattburger or Hiroshima, has the misfortune to have chosen a New Age-type name and to have signed with a New Age label.

But "Cafe Tropique" is a solid album of smooth jazz, with some excellent soloing, strong songwriting with plenty of melodic hooks, and solid all-around musicianship that makes for a very pleasant listen.
