This review first appeared in the September 22, 1995 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

Jimmy Dawkins has long been one of the best and most respected guitarists in blues, but hasn't gotten the kind of press that, say, a Robert Cray or Kenny Neal gets. His latest release, on the indie Atlanta blues imprint Ichiban, shows that the lack of attention has nothing to do with the man's talent.

In addition to his imaginative, scintillating guitar leads and solos, Dawkins is also a fine singer. His voice is rich and smooth, his delivery and timing spot-on.

The songs on this release are all originals written for Dawkins by the songwriting team of Rick Miller and S. Dobynes. They're all classic-style blues songs that provide Dawkins plenty of room to stretch out on solos. Guitar lovers will be in heaven.
