This review first appeared in the August 23, 1996 issue of the North County Times.

Assembled 10 years ago as a one-shot all-star combo, Patrick Street has lasted long enough to become of the best-known Irish bands going. Their fifth album is a danceable collection of mostly traditional songs, with a handful of originals written in a traditional vein.

The instrumentation is as traditional as the songs. At various times, the members of the quartet play everything from fiddle, accordion and Irish bagpipes to bouzouki, harmonica and mandolin.

With their accessible yet traditional repertoire, Patrick Street can be one of the best Irish bands for those new to the music to check out and start their education.
